July Birchbox Opening

I’ve been subscribed to Birchbox’s monthly treats since January, so I thought this month, I would review what I got.

First, can we talk about how gorgeous the box is? It’s perfectly themed for July with a sunset look and silhouette palm trees. It’s SO pretty.

This month there were 6 items in the box, which is nice since there’s usually 5.  So, there was a little something extra in there.

The first item in the box is the Rituals Hammam Delight Foaming Shower Gel. I’ve had a smell of this gel and I have to say it’s very strong scented and it smells amazing. It says it’s eucalyptus and rosemary, and the RRP is £4.50. I do feel like it might irritate my skin but I’m willing to give it a go. It foams up a lot, so don’t squirt some out on your hand to smell. I made that mistake and got it all over my carpet! I feel like it’s a little pricey for a shower gel. Honestly, I’d usually spend £1-£2 so it’s more than double what I’d pay, meaning I’ll very likely not buy a full-size product.

Next is the Percy & Reed Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery, which I believe is a leave in hair mask that you use on dry hair. The RRP for this mask is £20, which would be ok if it made a significant difference on your hair. I’m always looking to try new hair products on my coloured and bleached hair, so I have high hopes for this mask.

I was a little disappointed to receive yet another Micellar Water in the box this month. This one was the Balance Me Flash Cleanse Micellar Water, and the RRP is £16. I use Micellar Water every day, and pay about £4 for my Garnier one, which does its job totally fine. I certainly wouldn’t pay four times the amount for the same kind of thing. I already received a Micellar Water sample just a couple months ago so I really didn’t need another. The small bottle will be handy for travelling though.

I love receiving masks and face treatments, like the Whish Mud Mask. As someone who has problematic skin and hormonal spots; I love to try different skin products. This mask comes in at a whopping £29, so for the price, I hope it’s decent. I usually just use charcoal masks and my tea tree peel off mask. I’ll be going to a hen do on Saturday so I’m certainly going to try it out then, and will be blogging a Get Ready with Me.

There was a small sample of the Cocofina Coconut Oil in the box. Everyone that knows me, knows I’m slightly obsessed with coconut oil, so this was a nice little surprise. I use coconut oil most days, so I’ll be popping this sample into my bag for when I go on holiday.

The last item was something I was rather excited about. It was the Benefit GoGo Tint lip and cheek stain. I was a little saddened to see the size of the sample is extremely small, but I’m glad I get to try it. The RRP is £25.50, which is usually not the kind of price range I would go for, though I do love most of the Benefit cosmetics range. I got the GoGo Tint in pink, and it’s such a pretty colour. It was very pigmented, and probably a little too dark for me to use on my cheeks. I think it would work better for me as a lip stain.

That’s everything in my Birchbox this month. It can be hit and miss receiving items you actually like and will use. I’ll be using most the products this month, however I haven’t seen something I would buy the full size of. I think I’m more likely to enjoy reusing the box itself for storage rather than the products!
